Latest Updates from Project Juley 2011

Juley!
Greetings to all!
Here are the latest Juley updates!
We are proud to announce that the main hostel block which includes the kitchen, dining room and the 6 rooms is almost completed. We are now putting in the finishing touches to the buildings such as painting and the inner panelling.
The library, museum and IT block is still in the progress of construction. We are expecting this block to be completed by the end of September.
We have also started the construction of the second block of hostel. We look forward to its completion at the end of this year.
As seen from the latest photos in the gallery, many of the construction are done by manual labour. As there is no electrical machinery being used, the construction is very labour intensive.
Greenery is a very important and necessary aspect in Ladakh due to the dry and barren land. In total, Project Juley has planted 800 willow trees, 150 poplar trees and 35 apple trees. The apricot trees are planted on 25 April 2011. Rejoice, let’s hope to see the fruits growing soon!

Project Juley! Updates

Dear friends,

Thank you for all your support to Project Juley! An update of what has happened so far!

SPONSOR A TREE-OF-HOPE

We have so far 262 trees and 12 fruit trees sponsored. Still halfway towards our target of 500 trees and 25 fruit trees. So hope everyone can help us gather more friends to plant a tree, not only for the children of Ladakh, but also for our dear Mother Earth!

SHELTER A CHILD WITH LOVE

The ground breaking ceremony will be held on 25th April, this month! We will be building the 1st block of hostel from April – September 2010. 15 – 20 children will be staying in the hostel upon completion and will be able to start going to school!

We are still actively fund raising for this cause. We will really appreciate if you can help by contributing financially or simply forwarding the message to your colleagues and friends.

On behalf of the children in Ladakh, our sincere thank you! :)

YOUTH EXPEDITION PROJECT (YEP)

Project Juley! YEP’s vision is to give young people a chance to discover their potential as leaders and members of a team working together to make a difference in a meaningful way. From 2nd – 16th June, this group of 20 youths will embark on the journey to Ladakh and assist in the building of hostel.

Each youth is required to raise money  for their own travel expenses. Should you be keen to help in their fund raising efforts, do feel free to contact us!

PROJECT JULEY! RECCE TEAM

From 22nd – 3rd May, the recce team will be travelling to Ladakh to capture more footages and also cover the excitement during the ground breaking ceremony! We will also be travelling into the mountains to visit the children coming to the hostel. Do check back soon for more photos and videos.

Yup, that’s all for now! Keep in touch!

Cheers,

Team Juley! :)
